We’re so excited to be celebrating our wedding with our favourite people at Dorney Court - a beautiful Tudor manor house near Windsor.
For those of you travelling from far and wide—or just here for the historical gossip—Dorney Court dates back to around 1440 and is considered one of England’s finest stately homes. It’s been the village’s beloved manor for centuries, first popping up in the Domesday Book (hello, 1086!). In 1542, Dorney was bought by Sir William Garrard, the Lord Mayor of London. Dorney Court has been home to the same family for over 450 years, passed down through 14 generations. It’s still a private home (which explains why it’s only available for weddings on a few weekends each year when the family is away abroad!)
While we’re not always glued to history books, we are big fans of sustainability. The name “Dorney” is thought to come from the Saxon word for “Island of Bumblebees,” thanks to its once marshy, flower-filled landscape. Honey is still made on the estate today, so if you spot a bee at the wedding, don’t worry—they’re just on the guest list. The gardens, including the charming kitchen garden, are listed for their heritage value in Buckinghamshire. Legend has it that the first pineapple ever grown in England was cultivated right here and presented to King Charles II in 1661.
We can’t wait to see you there!
